All hands on deck!
We’re hoisting the sails and heading into uncharted waters.
The year? 2019.
The mission? Collabs. Lots of them.
Sidebar: This wasn’t just a release. This was a full on fleet. 2019 became the Year of the Colab.
Now, truth be told, this particular journey almost set sail two years earlier.
Wayne and Ray had kicked around the idea, but life, and, let’s be honest, timing, just wasn’t right.
Like all good things, it needed to age a little.
And when it was finally ready?
It aged like a fine rum.
Design ideas started bouncing.
We locked in the shape.
It was time for a prototype, and let us tell you…
Sidebar: We’d love to say we went through a dozen versions… but nah. First shot nailed it.
The proto was a banger.
Smooth, fun, fresh.
It hit every goal: feel, flow, and flair.
Clean sailing straight into production.
We doubled down with new packaging, fresh colourways, and some very special limited touches.
Because here’s the kicker,
Less than 100 SeaMonkeys were ever made.
Just a tight run.
No extras. No reboots.
We managed to squeak out a few short runs and even tossed in some Artist Proofs to spice things up.
One of those was a special Workshop release, a little something we called:
Victor Von Boom.
That drop was extra unique.
Sidebar: Von Boom filled with sea mines.
The SeaMonkey officially launched in September 2019, right before the world changed in a big way.
And wow… these babies sailed off the shelves.
Fast.
It marked a record-breaking year for us, three collaborations in one trip around the sun.
Uncharted waters, new alliances, and bold creative swings.
And we couldn’t have done it without Wayne.
