The world was slowly, awkwardly, painfully finding its way back to normal.
After the whirlwind of 2020, and a record number of throws flying out of the Lab,
we were ready to slow the roll just a little.
Enter: Robb Weinstock, MFD team member and longtime creative contributor.
“Hey Ray… I’ve got a buddy. He throws a yo-yo before every performance. He’s also kind of a big deal in the magic world.
Wanna help make a throw for him?”
Umm. YES. YES WE DO!
And just like that, we were stepping onto a very different kind of stage.
It’s our absolute pleasure to introduce:
Mr. Nick Diffatte.
Magician. Comedian. Masterclass instructor.
This guy blends dry humour, surgical wit, and serious sleight of hand to create performances that go way beyond your average “comedy magic” act.
He’s sharp. He’s busy. And, bonus, he’s one hell of a yo-yo player.
Sidebar: Think of Nick as the magician who could roast you mid trick and still leave you applauding.
But here’s the kicker, Nick didn’t just show up with vibes.
He came in fully loaded with design ideas.
Clear vision. Specific feel.
He knew exactly what he wanted in his signature throw.
We took his sketches, worked them into CAD, and then did what MFD always does,
added our flavor.
A few tweaks here, a few fine tunes there.
And when the dust settled?
It’s Alive
The Backstage Pass was born.
