WHEN RAW MEETS REFINED
PixelApe
Up until this point, we were cruising.
Smooth releases.
The occasional 7075 tease.
A rhythm that felt familiar… maybe too familiar.
It was time to stir the pot.
Ray and Chris were back at the design table, kicking ideas and coffee like it was a competitive sport.
And this time, Chris wasn’t looking for “flowy” or “soft.”
He was gunning for raw.
Sidebar: Say goodbye to sexy curves. Say hello to edges that bite.
Chris pitched a whole new vibe:
Hard lines. Sharp corners. Geometric attitude.
A throw that didn’t just look different, it felt different.
Ray wasn’t sold at first.
The MFD design language had always leaned on organic shapes and smooth transitions.
But once the idea clicked, once that ship turned…
It turned fast.
Chris sent a sketch, straight from his phone.
It looked like something ripped from a Transformer’s blueprints.
Ray took those wild shapes, dialed in the feel, and transformed chaos into clarity.
Pixelape was born.
Sidebar: 68 grams of straight heat. Built to brawl.
From the jump, it was a monster powerhouse.
And for the first time ever, the entire production run would be in full 7075 aluminum.
A new level of durability.
A new level of performance.
A whole new anodizing lineup to match.
But we weren’t done yet.
Every MFD throw needs its signature Cranky, and this one needed to feel as edgy and techy as the throw itself.
Team member, artist, and full-on creative sniper
Enter: Dallon.
Team member, artist, and full-on creative sniper.
We handed him the reins for this one, and he came back with release graphics that nailed it.
Cranky, digitized. Glitched out. Pixel perfect.
Sidebar: This wasn’t evolution. This was a software upgrade with teeth.
The launch hit hard.
The feedback? Even harder.
The community loved this new direction, raw, aggressive, unapologetic.
We were onto something.
In between the Pixelape waves, we started sprinkling in micro restocks, just enough to keep the Lab humming while we scoped out the next big leap.
Momentum was on our side.
And with the wind at our backs…
It was time for a team meeting.
Sidebar: What’s next? Who knows. But you’d better believe it won’t be subtle.
