We’ve had our ups.
We’ve had our downs.
We’ve made happy accidents and dodged some near disasters (looking at you, Lesula).
But there was one thing we hadn’t done in a while…
It was time for another signature throw.
Enter: Tyler Jorgensen, MFD Team Captain and certified smooth operator.
Tyler had been holding it down for the crew with serious consistency. When it came to flow, precision, and pure on-string presence, Tyler brought the heat. So when the stars aligned, he and Ray locked in to design the next official MFD signature release.
Sidebar: Signature throws don’t just happen. They evolve from trust, timing, and some damn good taste.
Now, let’s talk influence.

Ray’s love for SPYY runs deep. Like, ride or die level deep.
And to this day, his favourite non MFD throw? The Punchline.
So yeah, you can bet some of that energy slipped into the blueprints.
They started hashing out ideas:
Tyler needed something long spinning and comfortable, but still capable of hoop jumping madness.
A throw that flowed when you wanted it, but could snap back with bite when the tricks got real.
What they ended up with was something special.
Real special.
Sidebar: You might not have noticed, but Cranky gets a makeover almost every release.
This time, he blasted off.
Cranky, reinvented, reimagined, now orbiting the stars.
The Prime8 was born.
it flew!
Tyler backed the release with a killer series of promo videos, showing the throw’s versatility and finesse.
The anodizing lineup dropped like a comet, bold, beautiful, and unmistakably MFD. Slickrock, Cosmic Fingerprint, Major Tom and Strawberry Smiggles.
And when the Prime8 hit the store?
It flew.
For the first time in our history, MFD throws started selling directly from our own shop, not just via drops or third parties.
It was a turning point.
A throw that didn’t just play great, it marked a new era.
Sidebar: Tyler was a rock star. Plain and simple.
We were lucky to have him in the crew for those years. He left a mark, not just on the team, but on our product line forever.
Fast forward to today, May 2025, and the Prime8 is now on the endangered species list.
Only a few hubstack versions remain.
And when they’re gone?
That’s it.
Gone from the Lab. Gone from the store.
And yeah, Ray might say you’re not supposed to have favorites,
but let’s be honest…
This one’s up there with the best we’ve ever made.
