co-Lab
our 7th release
Before We Get Into the Co-Lab Story…
We want to give a huge shoutout to Brett, the man, the myth—who ran the very first store to ever carry a MonkeyfingeR throw: High Speed Yo-Yo. The Evil-Yo launched on his site first, and when it did okay, we were able to convince Andre from YoYoExpert to carry it for the next restock.
That moment helped crack open the door.
The Co-Lab: MonkeyfingeR x G2
It was time to dive into our first official Co-Lab project, this one with Jake over at G2.
Before “co-lab” was even a buzzword, Jake had reached out a few times, asking us to do some short runs for G2. We were the first to create his spiral effect throws, the wild Unicorn Tears, and some super unique cracked concrete finishes. Each project pushed anodizing in new directions, and it was clear we worked well together.
Eventually, the talks turned into something bigger:
Let’s build a full-sized throw, a real 50/50 collaboration where both companies leave their mark.
The specs?
-
Diameter: 56.5mm
-
Width: 44mm
-
Weight: 68.5g
A true 50/50 was in the making
Comfortable, reliable, great spin times, this was one of the most balanced designs either of us had worked on. The shape featured sculpted lines, custom-made vines, a Tornado Bearing, and of course, Monkey SNOT response pads, wrapped up in that iconic G2 white box with vinyl-cut lettering.
Sidebar: Finishing Touches
We kept the MonkeyfingeR energy flowing with bold anodizing options, while G2 brought their clean, modern packaging game. It looked sharp, felt premium, and played like a dream.
This was a solid release for both companies. Online stores got their share of the throws, while the remainder was split between G2 and MonkeyfingeR directly.
Sidebar: Who Got What
Instead of going the usual “one company handles fulfillment” route, we shared inventory and let each community enjoy a slice. It helped double the exposure and kept the drop feeling fresh on both ends.
At the time of this collab, Brett had decided to move on and was no longer with G2, but his influence and early support were never forgotten.
