Some people collect facts. Others collect yoyos. Ken Nipper? He collects both — and with surgical precision.

Before MFD even knew we had fans, Ken was already one of them — quietly building a vault worthy collection of our earliest throws, back when anodizing was just getting wild and Ray was still figuring out how to not anodize his shoes by accident. We’re not even kidding — Ken’s been tracking MFD longer than most of us have been throwing.

Imperials. Butterflies. Fixed axles. That’s where it started. But once Ken discovered MonkeyfingeR, the game changed. What started as a general yoyo passion quickly became a full-blown MFD collection,  we’re talking nearly exclusive collecting, colourway name lore, and a brain full of trivia even Ray has to ask about.

“Hey, Ken… do you remember when we did that green and yellow fade with the splash?”
“Yup. Caesar. 2019. Called ‘Radioactive Nacho.’ Drop was in June. You anodized it during a heat wave.”

He’s not kidding — Ken is the living database of MonkeyfingeR. Every release, every colorway, every one-of-a-kind throw? If you’ve got a question, Ken probably has the answer before you finish asking it. That’s why, in 2025, we made it official: Ken joined the team as our first-ever Historian. And outside the MFD jungle?

Ken’s a retired Test & Systems Engineer in the Military Electronics and Aerospace world. Yeah,  he’s literally worked on systems that are currently orbiting the Earth. Radar, sonar, satellites… a few things he “can’t talk about”. So when he tells you something isn’t rocket science, there’s a good chance it actually is.

In his off-hours (when not cataloging MFD history), Ken enjoys:

  • WW2 and Ancient History deep dives

  • Off-road desert runs in Southern California

  • Laying down some classical guitar

  • Sharpening his pool game like a pro

  • And staying busy with his daughters and grandkids

We say this a lot, but we mean it: Ken is one of a kind. We’re honored to have him in the Lab, in the Zoo, and in the legacy of what makes MonkeyfingeR more than just a brand — it’s a community built on passion, memory, and wild colourways that someone (ahem, Ken) has always kept track of.
